Why Pathfinder 1.0?

Because many of our long time fans and customers have asked for it. Several of you have invested thousands of dollars in Lost Lands books for Pathfinder 1.0, so we are trying to support it as long as we can. To this end we have made the Pathfinder availability an early stretch goal to maintain profitability in case of lower than expected print runs.

What are System Encounter books?

Convenient Reference Guide to Reme. These books come in two varieties, one for 5th Edition and one for Swords & Wizardry (and for Pathfinder 1.0 if unlocked). They contain reference stats for use with the Region book for easy use at the gaming table and to convert the system-neutral book into your rules-system of choice, as well as detailed encounter tables for the region. Keep your reference stats and general description open at the same time in separate books. The stats contained in the Convenient Reference Guide are not included in the main book itself.

What is the estimated shipping cost for Overseas customers?

This hardcover book likely will cost around $60 to $80 to ship to non-US customers. We continue to see cost increases and damage increases on overseas shipping. We cannot do anything about this. Likewise, some countries charge VAT tax or other fees to our customers on receipt. We cannot fraudulently lie about the value of materials we mail out. We actually have considered not even selling books overseas due to the complaints about postage. That being said, we have a number of long term customers that we want to be able to get our stuff. But this postage stuff is not for the faint of heart. Due to the handling of our products when we mail them tens of thousands of miles, we have noted a significant increase in damage as well. One package sent overseas can cost $50, $70, or even $100 to reship. We discussed this internally, after spending several thousand dollars in excess postage over the past year. While we take great care in packing, we still have about 2% of our shipments get damaged en-route. What we decided was that we would start double boxing overseas shipments, and also that we needed to charge insurance costs on the postal service. We will continue to honor our policy of 100% resend on damaged books — and after much deliberation, we will be adding a $15 USD insurance and handling charge on all overseas shipments. We hate to do this — but conditions have simply become untenable for us to continue to lose large amounts of money shipping books overseas. We are happy to ship you anything regardless of where you live, but we have to stay in business at the same time.

When we unlock PF 1.0 for the system specific add-ons will they be a choice for the system specific items at certain pledge levels? OR, will they have to add-on in addition?

We will make it pick 1/3, or as an add-on I think. Depending on number sold, they may be POD only though…trying really hard to support you guys on PF 1.0

Do you have a rough idea of the page count?

Somewhere between 185 and 200, but there are some things that will affect it in layout, such as tables, that don’t correspond well between word count and page count. Those could conceivably make it longer than planned in terms of the page count.

Could you give an estimate of how many pages the encounter book will be? Pathfinder if it makes a difference.

We’re targeting 32 pages for the encounter book, but since it’s a book of stats it could vary wildly. There are hundreds of Loreclans across Reme, so we’re giving only a representative sampling for the GM to use as needed. Several are described in the book as well, of course. A Loreclan is usually no more than a couple of thousand people for the settled ones, and many of the ones in the deep plains or semi-nomadic are smaller than that. Whereas the Rhemish grassland is about the size of the American Midwest. So even with the very low population density, there are LOTS of these groups. MF

From Papa Frog:

Not sure of page count. 48? Something like that. PF may be bigger

What exactly does "Library binding" mean? Are the POD (Print on Demand) books library bound?

All Frog God Games hardcovers are stitched into 16-page packets, the packets are sewn together, and then all the packets are sewn to a cloth backing, creating a book block that is glued to its cover. This is what we mean when we say “library binding.” That being said, after a myriad of book-binding issues both recently and dating back to 2nd Edition, there is nothing we hate to see more than someone investing in an expensive game book and having it fall apart on them after only a short period of regular use. After all, you guys spend a lot of money on your books! Second, if a Frog God hardcover book ever falls apart (we have tested this with baseball bats and very rough use, by the way), we will replace it at no cost assuming we still have one in stock. Yes, that means if you call me in ten years, and your book binding has failed you (failed us really) through regular use (please no bulldozer roll overs), just email me and if the book is still in stock, we will mail you a new copy for free. Nothing I can do for you if they are all sold out though (but email me anyway and I’ll hook you up in some way). PLEASE NOTE! The POD option for this books is a softcover book and is NOT library bound. That being said, it is significantly less expensive to ship if you live outside the US.

What are the chances that you will support PF2?

Probably not. Not saying never, but we do not have anyone well versed in the system…and honestly, I do not particularly love the mechancs as I have seen in the playtest–not sure it will do well, given 5e’s popularity.

I feel an obligation to PF 1.0–as we have been there since 2010–but 2.0? Only will delve in if it really takes off.

What? No TFT versions?

Not on this project, just 5e, Swords & Wizardry, and Pathfinder. Swords & Wizardry is the closest bet for on-the-fly conversion since it’s OD&D and doesn’t have anything that operates specifically on numbers. MF

So, how much time would it take for a caravan to travel form Bard's Gate to Reme?

The following is a combination of several peoples opinions. Take it with a grain of salt.

90 days is pretty likely. Wheel and animal repairs, weather, resupply, raiders, etc….

The journey is approximately 1,800 miles from Bard’s Gate to Reme. 1,100 miles of that is my main road and the final 700 miles is across country. (unless the new book has more roads) If we take into account that traveling on good road is approximately 24 miles per day travelled and cross-country is at 18 miles per day covered. Then the trip is roughly 79 days of travel. Considering that caravan’s usually have breaks and layovers here and there when they can I would just call it a 90 day (3 month journey) to account for all layovers and setbacks.

So, the new book does indeed have more roads. The Tradeway goes all the way from Bard’s Gate to Reme, so that 1800 miles can all be travelled at 24 miles per day. At that rate, the calculation would be 75 days of travel.

How will PDF fulfillment be handled? Through DriveThruRPG or through the Frog God website?

Are there system neutral random encounter tables in the main tome or are they only included in the system specific "Convenient Reference Guide to Reme"?

There are pages of encounter tables in the main, system-neutral book. The encounters themselves are fleshed out slightly in the reference guide. For example the main book Endless Hills Encounter table tells us that rolling 41-42 on 1d100 means an encounter with a gnoll tribe. The reference guide for 5e, for example, says that a gnoll tribe consists of two gnoll warbands and a gnoll chieftain and provides details and stat blocks as needed for those. (All subject to change, of course.)

Will the backer kit for this have any options to buy some of the add-ons from the World of the Lost Lands KS (which I missed). The pre-order site doesn't have any of campaign unlocks listed as purchase options so I am wondering if I am SOL.

I’m not sure but I’ve passed this question on. As for the Campaign unlocks even after the KS ends it takes some time to set everything up so please be patient. JB

Does the world map have a grid also? And if so, how many miles per hex?

From Mark Greenberg:

The answer is slightly complicated. The total world map covers about 11,000 miles east to west, and about 9,000 miles north to south. Given that the world is indeed a globe, if you use the same hex size throughout on a flat map, the scale will differ by latitude. But the default scale is 50 miles per hex. That’s what you get with a world this size.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
